I am a Computer Science student. My interests are in
Web Development and Data Science
Aspiring Software Developer
Hello! I'm Chowdhury An-Noor, a sophomore at Stony Brook University double majoring in Computer Science and Applied Mathematics. My passion is to work with large data to provide visualizations and analytics. I like to build applications on the web because they are easily accessible on almost every platform and there is always more to learn.
Java, Javascript, and Python are my most used languages. I am also familiar with libraries such as react and django.
Stony Brook University, Class of 2023
I am currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in both Computer Science and Applied Mathematics.
Relavent coursework:
Alongside school, I work part time at Best Buy. I am also involved in two research groups on campus
Background
My family is originally from Dhaka, Bangladesh. I moved to the U.S. at the age of 9 which makes me a dual citizen of Bangladesh. I am fluent in three languages in total: Bengali, English, and Hindi.
Emphasis on Personal Finance
I am very passionate about personal finance and investing. Almost all of my income from my part time job goes to my investment portfolio. I spend lots of time researching financial markets and the economy. My ultimate goal is become a real estate investor while working full time as a software developer.
Favorite Passtime
My hobby is to build desktops and stay up to date with new technologies. Building my own desktop taught me a lot about computers that I never knew before. The desktop has become my primary workstation during quarantine and allowed me to explore the amazing world of linux distributions.
What I have been working on
Webgen is a website built with Javascript which allows users access to cancer genomic and clinical data. The data is queried from an api and there are currently two types of visualizations. I have been part of this team for the past two semesters and have worked on making violin plots.
Paid research opportunity on campus. The goal of this team is to take COVID data from various hospital systems around the country and unify the data. This will allow us easy access to the data and form analyses. I joined the team this semester.
Built and Programmed a robot with Arduino. The robot is had to complete a multitude of tasks such as avoiding obstacles and pricking up objects.
Managers at my Best Buy store needed a website for employees to check in and keep on top of their goals. The site has two levels of accounts and each week a manager account is able to drop in a schedule. The website reads this Excel file and make entries for the employees in the backend. The website was built with using react.js and Firebase.
I have been a member of FIRST for eight years. I first joined Lego League in middle school and continued with FRC in high school. I built and programmed many robots with my amazing team. In my senior year, my team qualified for the national championships in two regionals. We attended nationals in Detroit, Michigan and were proud of our performance.
An online web development course led me to create a clone of the Yelp app from scratch. This was built using Express.js and MangoDB.
